

A GUIDE FOR NEW RESIDENTS OF HEMSWELL CLIFF
The Hemswell Cliff Parish Council would like to welcome you to the village and hope that you will enjoy living here. We have put together this information in the hope that it will help you settle into your new home quickly and smoothly.
HEMSWELL CLIFF PARISH COUNCIL
The Parish Council meet regularly, dates of the meetings are advertised on the Parish Notice Board outside the NAAFI/ Spar shop. Alternatively, contact our Parish Clerk (her contact details are listed on the Parish Councillors page.) Our meetings are open to the public and we have a time at the beginning of every meeting for members of the public to speak.
CHURCHES
The Parish is served by the Glentworth Group of parishes. For further details please contact Revd. Mary Dawson on 01427 668203 or Mark Hurd on 01427 668959
For other denominations, the nearest places of worship are in Lincoln and Gainsborough (there is also a Methodist chapel in Ingham). The Glentworth group of parishes has a website at www.glentworthparishes.org.uk This web site lists when and where services are being held (see the Parish Churches link.). In addition the group circulates a paper newsletter about 10 times a year. These are usually available in the Post Office and the Spar Shop if they don't come through your letterbox. Home delivery of the Glentworth Gazette depends on local volunteers, if your's isn't delivered please contact Mark (as above) so he can talk you into delivering in your neighbourhood!
LIBRARIES
The main library headquarters is in Free School Lane, Lincoln tel:01522 510800 there is also very good library situated in Gainsborough, opposite the Old Hall tel: 01427 614780 and one in Nettleham, tel: 01522 751391. A mobile library visits the village every other week during school term time and stops outside the school on Capper Ave between 9.15am and 10am. Check the Library service's website for dates and time to be sure as this information could be out of date.
SHOPS & POST OFFICE
The Post Office is situated on Gainsborough Road (A631) and offers a good range of postal services as well as being newsagent and general store. In addition there is a Spar shop, also known as the Naafi, which stocks most day to day requirements, DVD rentals etc and is open seven days a week.
COMMUNITY CENTRE
The RAF own and operate the Community Centre. See our community centre page for more info about what services are available there.
PAPERS
Daily and Sunday newspapers are available from the Post Office and Spar Shop. The Target (free) newspaper from Gainsborough is delivered when they have someone handling the route.
MARKET DAYS & EARLY CLOSING
Most shops in Gainsborough and Lincoln are open six full days and some have Sunday opening hours. However, some smaller shops still have half day closing.
Lincoln: Market Days Thursday/Fridays/Saturday.
Early closing on Wednesdays.
Gainsborough: Market Days Tuesday/Saturday.

MILKMAN
Milk is delivered by the Lincolnshire Co-operative Society Limited, Telephone 01427 811639. They deliver on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 7.00 a.m. and 7.30 a.m. The shops also sell milk.
LOCAL POLICE
There is an unmanned sub-station in the village, based at the Community Center tel:01427 667820. I've yet to see anyone in there so don't count on it and call Divisional HQ if you have problems. The Divisional police station is in Market Rasen. In addition, periodically throughout the year, the mobile police unit visits. Dates for these visits are advertised on the Parish Notice Board. In addition we have a Police Community Support Officer, Matt Trafford, who can be reached on his mobile number: 07944 776999 when he is on duty.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Your District Council is West Lindsey District Council, which deals with planning, environmental health, housing, electoral registers and the administration of the community charge. Contact details: The Guildhall, Gainsborough, Lincs, DN21 2DH Tel: 01427 676676 email: customer.relations@west-lindsey.gov.uk . The District Councillor for this area is Mr Scott Pritchard. Lincolnshire County Council deals with Education, Roads, Social Services, Fire and Police. The main switchboard number is 01522 552222.
DOCTORS & DENTISTS
There are two local GP practices, one is at Ingham : 01522 730269 and the other at Kirton Lindsey: 01652 648214, both are approximately seven miles away. The nearest Dentists are in Lincoln, Gainsborough or Kirton Lindsey, you can obtain a list from the Lincolnshire Family Health Service Authority: 01522 513355.
BUS SERVICE
There is an infrequent bus service through the Parish. The most up to date timetables can be provided free of charge at the Local Post Office or from the Parish Clerk. Alternatively you can call the Travel Line, Public information for the most up to date information on 0870 608 2608
(7am.-9 pm. Mon to Fri) In addition Tesco runs a free weekly bus service to their supermarket in Gainsborough. The service runs on Tuesdays and stops at Canberra Crescent at 12.55 and then at the Spar/NAFFI and the Post Office. It arrives at Tesco Gainsborough at about 13.23 and leaves for the return journey at 14:53.

Rubbish Dumps
Household waste and recyclables can be taken to Gainsborough which has a new, ramped, state of the art dump/recycling facility on Summergangs Lane, Gainsborough. The entrance to this small lane is off Lea road next to the railway station. There is an alternative site at Kirton in Lindsey near the secondary school.
Large items such as old appliances can be collected from your house for a small charge. Contact West Lindsey Environment and Planning office on 01427 676676 for full information.
Garden Waste
Hemswell Cliff Parish Council provides a skip for garden waste every other Saturday during spring, summer and early autumn. This is located at the layby near Canberra Crescent between about 9:30am and 11am.
PLEASE NOTE! When it's full, that's it. Don't leave bags or rubbish beside the skip and clean up your débris before you leave, there are no staff to clean up after you. Contact the Parish Clerk for further information.
Household Waste/Recycling.
West Lindsey District Council provides black wheelie bins for household waste and blue wheelie bins for recycling. These are collected on Tuesday mornings. The black bins are emptied weekly and the blue bins are emptied every other week.
